Welcome to Episode 12 of our podcast, where we focus on the small and simple truths that carry eternal weight. This week, we're diving into something deeply meaningful: how Jesus Christ makes us whole—not just someday in the future, but right now, even in the middle of our mess.

💬 “You don’t have to be perfect to feel peace. You can be spiritually whole, right now, because Christ is enough.”

Last Week’s Challenge: Listening to Learn

Last week's challenge was to read a talk from the prophet. I read "Listen and Learn" by President Russell M. Nelson (from back when he was an apostle).

One line stuck with me:

“Surely wisdom will come as we listen to learn…”

It reminded me of the principle we talked about in Episode 11: the power of the pause. Listening—not to argue or respond—but to learn is part of becoming whole.

The Come Follow Me Connection: D&C 71–75

This week’s Come, Follow Me study covers Doctrine & Covenants 71–75, where Joseph Smith faces personal attacks—including from a former friend, Ezra Booth. Instead of retaliating, the Lord told Joseph to keep proclaiming truth.

“No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper” – D&C 71:9

We’re reminded here: when life is loud and lies are loudest, Jesus invites us to return to the simple and sacred truths of the gospel.

The Wholeness of Jesus Christ

So what does it really mean to be whole?

Let’s be honest. Many of us have been in seasons where we’re praying, reading scriptures, attending church—and still feel broken. Spiritually tired. Emotionally stretched.

That’s why this episode is centered around Sister Camille N. Johnson’s talk, “Spiritually Whole in Him”. She teaches:

“Faith in Jesus Christ is the key to spiritual wholeness, even when we are not healed physically or emotionally.”

Wholeness isn’t about perfection. It’s about belonging to Him. Being spiritually whole means walking with Jesus, not waiting to be fixed to start the walk.

Modern-Day Examples of Wholeness

🔹 President Russell M. Nelson

Before he was the prophet, he was a world-renowned heart surgeon. But even he could not prevent the deaths of his wife and daughter. Despite deep loss, he found peace in Christ.

🔹 Elder Jeffrey R. Holland

In his talk "Like a Broken Vessel", Elder Holland shared his own journey through depression and mental health challenges. He said:

“Though we may feel broken, we are not beyond the reach of God’s healing grace.”

🔹 A Birth Mother’s Story

My aunt Kaitlyn shared a deeply personal story about her son Rocky’s birth mother. She made the courageous decision to place her child for adoption, not out of shame, but out of faith and spiritual trust. Today, both families have experienced profound healing—because Christ was at the center of that sacrifice.

💙 That birth mother is part of my family’s story. She gave us Rocky. And through Christ, we have all found healing, love, and wholeness.

Wholeness in Scripture: Enos, The Woman with an Issue of Blood, and The Prodigal Son

These scriptural stories aren’t just about miracles. They’re about spiritual identity and connection:

  • Enos prayed all night and found peace, not because his problems vanished, but because his soul was made whole.

  • The woman with the issue of blood was healed because of her faith—and Jesus called her daughter.

  • The prodigal son was welcomed home before he could even finish his apology.

🕊 Wholeness isn’t earned—it’s given through Jesus Christ.

Small & Simple Things: Your Challenge This Week

This week’s spiritual challenge is simple but powerful:

Say a prayer asking Jesus to help you feel spiritually whole. Then, write down how you feel. Be honest. Be open.

It’s in those small moments of humility and honesty that healing begins.

Final Thoughts: Being Whole, Not Perfect

Maybe you’re carrying something heavy right now. Maybe your prayers feel unanswered. Maybe you're in the middle of a waiting season. Wherever you are—Christ is with you.

“Jesus Christ makes us whole when we yield our hearts to Him.” – Sister Johnson

So keep turning toward Him. You don’t need to be fixed to be faithful. You don’t need to be strong to be held.

Thanks for joining me today! Remember— you don’t have to do everything, know everything, or feel everything perfectly. Just focus on the small and simple things that keep you close to Christ. That’s where wholeness begins.
